Missing Adriana Rbadan 14 Oscar Rabadan 9 -
GURNEE IL — Law enforcement officials are searching for a Wheeling man who may be heading to Texas with his two children who police say he abducted.
Police Cmdr. Jay Patrick said Monday authorities were notified at 10:30 p.m. Sunday by the children's mother, Adriana De Leon, 36, of Gurnee, that her two children had not been returned home by their father.
Patrick said that Oscar Rabadan, 34, of Wheeling had a regularly scheduled visitation with his two children over the weekend. The children were to have been returned by 8 p.m. on Sunday. When they were not returned by 10:30 p.m., De Leon called police.
Missing are Adriana Rabadan, a 14-year-old Hispanic, 5 feet 1 inches tall weighing 120 pounds. She has black hair and black eyes and was last seen wearing a red jacket and blue jeans. She is a student at Viking Middle School
Also missing is her brother, Oscar Rabadan, a 9-year-old Hispanic, 4 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 90 pounds.
Patrick said the children are believed to be with their biological father, Oscar Rabadan, 5 feet 5 inches tall weighing 180 pounds. He has black hair and black eyes.
Patrick said authorities did not issue an Amber Alert because the case does not qualify because "there is not a direct threat to the safety of the children."
Oscar Rabadan is believed to be driving a black 1992 Ford Econoline Cutaway commercial vehicle fashioned as a pickup truck and bearing Illinois truck plate 257615D.
Oscar Rabadan has filed court papers in an attempt to gain custody of the children and a court hearing was scheduled in Lake County Family Court later this month, Patrick said.
There is an active order of protection against Rabadan which prohibits the concealment or removal of the children from their mother but allows regular visitation, he noted.
Patrick said investigators were told that Rabadan moved his belongings from his home in Wheeling last Friday afternoon and may be driving to the San Antonio, Texas area or may already be in that area.
Anyone having information of the whereabouts of these missing children or Oscar Rabadan, is asked to contact the Gurnee Police Department at (847) 599-7000.
