She literally disappeared without a trace back in December.
Today in Radcliff, Kentucky another search will take place to try and solve the mystery.
44-year-old Vickey De Laurier was last seen at the Sav-A-Lot where she worked what happened next is anyone’s guess.
De Laurier has been missing for over three months now. Investigators today searched a one mile area outside or Fort Knox for the first time today. They are looking for one tip that can reopen this case.
For the volunteers searching this area, the more troubling thing than not finding something would be if they did.
Since it has been the length of time that it has we have to assume that we are looking at the worst, that we may have to deal with the body rather than a person that has fled the area, Chief Dale Riggs of the Vine Grove Police Department.
Today around 50 volunteers from various law enforcement agencies around the area, including Fort Knox, along with five dogs one of which a cadaver dog, comb a one square mile area on the Fort Knox campus. They’re searching for Vickey De Laurier’s body. Police say she went missing on December 17th. They found her car abandoned just outside of Radcliff on the Joe Prather Highway, near the scene police are now searching. De Laurier was last seen leaving her job at the Sav-A-Lot in Radcliff, about to make a deposit of over 2,000 dollars. She and the money have not been seen since.
Nothing credible, we haven’t had the first credible lead. We’ve followed up on just a couple of leads that prove to be unsubstantiated, Chief Riggs said.
Search crews continue to comb the area outside Fort Knox, hoping to find anything that could help in the search.
We have to focus a little bit differently. It may be a crime scene. We have no evidence of that, but we have to eliminate that possibility, Chief Riggs said.
The search continues and will go on until 6 o’clock tonight.
Another interesting facet to this story is that De Laurier disappeared right before she was scheduled to appear in court to have a protective order against her former boyfriend extended. Police say that they have no suspects in that case, including the boyfriend.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Vine Grove Police at 270-877-2252.
Search Continues For Missing Hardin County Woman
April 6, 2006 12:16 PM EDT
(VINE GROVE, Ky.) -- Authorities from Vine Grove, Radcliff and Fort Knox are searching an area of Fort Knox where a missing woman's car was found when she vanished three months ago.
Vicky De Laurier of Vine Grove woman disappeared several days before she was scheduled to appear in court for an emergency protective order filed against her live-in boyfriend.
Vine Grove Police Chief Dale Riggs says there's no evidence whether the missing woman is dead or alive, but he hopes to narrow the possibilities with the search.
Bloodhounds have searched the area twice where De Laurier's red, 1999 two-door Honda Civic was found December 18th along eastbound Kentucky 313 in Radcliff.
Police have examined phone and bank records and interviewed co-workers, friends and family, but have no solid leads or suspects.
