McMINNVILLE, Ore. -- Detectives are searching for a body on a farm in Yamhill County.
Family members said the remains of 23-year-old Christopher Lampkin may have been found in a barrel on a McMinnville farm on Monday.
People who live on the farm said they were surprised when police showed up to search for a body.
“They made us stay up here until they searched and when they left, I asked them if they found what they were looking for,” said farmer Joe. “They said, ‘Yeah, we found it.’”
Despite the witness account, there is no official word on whether remains were found.
If remains are found, Lampkin's family said they will conduct DNA testing to see who they may belong to.
Lampkin was reported missing by his parents in June 2006 and police said information at that time indicated foul play may have been involved. His body has never been recovered.
In August, police arrested 22-year-old Leonard Gonzalez in the case.
