Relatives sought in Finley's disappearance
4/5/2006 10:00 AM
By: News 8 Austin Staff
The Travis County Sheriff's Office is expanding its search for Latoya Finley, 22, to include her aunt and uncle.
Finley is a black woman, with black hair and brown eyes. She's 5'8" and weighs about 110 pounds. Finley walks with a noticeable limp or crutches due to a disability. She was last seen in her silver, four-door, 2005 Hyundai Elantra, with license plate 082-FYC.
Investigators believe she was headed to California, but never made it.
Tony Holmes
Police are also looking for Finley's aunt, Karen Bunton, and her uncle, Tony Holmes. Bunton and Holmes were the last people to see Finley.
There is currently no evidence of foul play in Finley's disappearance, police say. But they say the circumstances are suspicious and they would like to talk her aunt and uncle. Both have outstanding arrest warrants for unrelated crimes.
There is a $2,500 reward for any information about Finley's whereabouts. If you have any information, call Det. Chris Rowland at (512) 854-3245 or CrimeStoppers at (512) 472-TIPS.
Aunt, uncle arrested in connection with missing niece
4/15/2006 11:22 AM
Two family members of a missing Travis County woman have been arrested in West Texas.
Travis County Sheriff's investigators say Abilene police took Karen Bunton and Tony Holmes into custody early Friday morning.
Bunton and Holmes were the last two people to see their niece, 22-year-old Latoya Finley, who disappeared on Feb. 23.
A short time after the investigation began, detectives focused on Bunton and Holmes. The Sheriff's Office said the two originally cooperated with the investigation, then stopped.
Tony Holmes
Abilene authorities recognized the couple in Finley's car and took them into custody. They also found "remains" in the car. Authorities aren't saying if those remains are human or not.
Local investigators plan to travel to Abilene to continue their work and interview Bunton and Holmes.
Finley, an aspiring singer, told her family she was going to California to pursue her dream, and promised that she would call when she got there. She last spoke with her mother on Feb. 23.
